Webclipse improves the modern coding experience by delivering unique features like Hot Reload, JavaScript Debug, REST Inspect and other power-ups. Developers writing modern applications find themselves frequently moving between layers of the stack.
With Webclipse, developers can stay in their familiar Eclipse development environment yet develop and debug JavaScript, consume and create web services, and generally spend more time coding.
"The ability of developers to easily create JavaScript content anywhere in their stack is becoming increasingly important for web developers ," says Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation "Webclipse support for node.js and advanced web technology provides an interesting new addition to this growing market."
Three marquee features in Webclipse power up the Eclipse development stack:
Hot Reload, an improved version of Hot Code Replace, focuses on time spent in re-deploying and restarting after class changes. Hot Reload allows developers to see these changes instantly in their Tomcat and Weblogic application servers, providing a nice improvement in web development speed.
JavaScript Debug provides integrated and reliable Javascript debugging inside Eclipse directly to external Chrome browsers. Not only that, it also provides support for Node.js with debugging of Node applications.
REST Inspect allows developers to invoke and integrate RESTful web services. Webclipse initially supports JAX-RS and RAML definitions to facilitate web service coding. Developers can also test other's web services all from within their Eclipse stack.
Webclipse features are here to help developers do web and web service development better and the best part is that it is completely free to use for the first year.
"With the inclusion of our Early Adopter program, we are excited to bring excellent power-ups to Eclipse developers at no cost,” said Webb.
